China Invests in Inspection and Platemaking

　　China Banknote Designing and Engraving Co (CBDE), part to the family of companies belonging to China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation (CBPM) , has brand-new inspection and platemaking systems to meet increasing innovation requirements and demand.

　　CBDE, founded in 2001 with the approval of the People’s Bank of China, is a state-owned high-tech enterprise specialising in currency design and plate-making services.

　　Its high speed offset/intaglio printing plate quality inspection equipment with multi-functional inspection system has been developed to inspect plates quickly and conveniently. According to CBDE, the system has superior defect detection capabilities based on a high-resolution imaging system, efficient image processing algorithms, high-precision motion control systems, high freedom of automation modelling and artificial intelligence classification.

　　The first equipment was developed in 2012. In 2014 and 2015, the rapid quality inspection system for both offset and intaglio printing were developed based on the first sample equipment.

　　CBDE’s multi-functional laser engraving plate-making system, meanwhile, is  equipped with high power femtosecond laser and 3D pattern design software which can cover the production requirements for both intaglio and screen plates from design to laser engraving.

Innovation and upgrades

　　CBDE recruits and employs designers, plate-making experts, and printing professionals from across the Chinese printing industry. The company has also invested in various international leading plate-making equipment and advanced technologies such as CDI, DLE, and PVD.

　　Since 2005, as part of its commitment to exploring new business through innovation and upgrades, CBDE has researched digital laser technology for plate-making, and laser engraving equipment now lies at the core of its digital plate-making process. As a result, says CBDE, it can meet demand for precise processing of resin plate, screen, metallic intaglio, metallic relief block, roller and so on.

　　CBDE has one intaglio production line, five digital flexographic plate production lines, and two digital screen production lines. With an annual output of over 5,000 plates in total, CBDE says it can offer customers all over the world high-quality and comprehensive services including the design and development of plates, processing in micro scale as well as analysis and evaluation in multi dimensions.
